Jaime Morales-Matos, Music Director

Jaime Morales-Matos, in his thirteenth season, brings his charismatic style and passion to the podium, directing dedicated musicians drawn from all over central Ohio. He serves as the trombone faculty at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. As a trombonist, he has performed with the Cincinnati Symphony, Casals Festival Orchestra, Dayton Philharmonic, Lexington (KY) Philharmonic and the New World Symphony (FL).
As a conductor, Mr. Morales-Matos has conducted in the U.S., Germany, Austria, Spain, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bulgaria, and his native Puerto Rico. From 2000 to 2002, he was Music Director of the Miami University of Ohio Symphony Orchestra. From 1996 to 1999 he was cover conductor with the Dayton Philharmonic under Music Director Neil Gittleman. He has also conducted the Columbus Symphony and Houston Symphony.

"He feels the music in his bones, and obviously he is able to communicate this sense to the group as a whole. I heard people on the way out say, 'Every year, they keep getting better and better.' I couldn’t agree more."
Lyman Leathers, Delaware Gazette
